Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation

Sacraments are celebrated in our parish when children are ready.

How do you know when your child is ready?

Readiness for Sacraments is mainly established by practicing the faith in family life, and through the family’s active involvement in the parish. Registration to receive sacraments takes place in the fall so families have ample time to prepare for a series of classes that begin in late winter.

Sacramental Preparation Sessions

Families with school-aged children who are ready to receive a sacrament must participate in a series of seven sessions that take place in the late winter/early spring. A fee of $30/child is due at the first class, however it is the policy of St. Paul Church to welcome everyone. No one will be denied due to financial constraints.

Baptism

If you have a newborn or young child up to age 4 for whom you are seeking baptism we will be most pleased to assist you in the preparation of this wonderful day when your child will be welcomed into the family of God. Please contact Deacon Paul at the rectory Monday-Thursday from 9:00-11:30, 401-461-5734. If this is not a convenient time just leave a message and a good time to return your call. Deacon Paul will then contact you. The following guidelines are helpful in determining your child’s readiness:

  • The family has established a habit of attending Mass every Saturday evening or Sunday, and on holy days of obligation
  • The family participates in monthly GIFT sessions

School-aged students seeking to receive the Sacrament of Baptism must attend Mass with a parent/guardian each week and on Holy Days. Attendance with a parent/guardian at monthly GIFT sessions is also required. The family’s active involvement in the life of the parish is strongly encouraged.
